This week we installed Cornices and bedding in a newly remodeled Master bedroom.
During the remodel we took measurements and I also snapped a couple of pictures with my phone camera. If you notice in the before pictures there was no crown molding, and the patio door is being replace and doesn’t have molding around it. So when I was measuring everything, I had to make sure and note that and compensate for it in the final project. For this job the client selected and purchased her own fabrics.
Several weeks before the install I posted this picture on Facebook, and I wanted to show the back side of the coverlet. The king pillows are corded and backed in the gold also. We went ahead and closed the King pillows because she was not going to take them out. The coverlet was interlined and had a very thin poly batting that the client purchased at JoAnn’s. I then hand tacked the layers together in the little brown raised flowers.
While installing the cornices we had to be careful to line them up and make sure that a 6′ person could walk thru the door. We came up with a happy medium of not seeing the top of the door, but still being able to go through the door.
The client wanted a simple shape with not too much going on and decided to go with self welt at the top and bottom. She wanted a more simple look with it not being to busy. I think they turned out great. The fabric is a very thin embroidered fabric so I made sure to pre-line the cornices with interlining. This is pretty much a standard for us, unless the fabric is upholstery weight.
The bedding coordinated with the cornices perfectly.
The client found the blue pillows at a store, but the coordinated with the blue on the coverlet perfectly. She had also found another set of pillows in a darker blue with gold beading on them. In the winter she is going to flip the King pillows to the gold and put the other blue pillows in front. So now she has two different looks.
Also this morning I woke up to a beautiful sunrise and my dogwood that grows right outside my window that I look out when I open my eyes. God makes beautiful things!
Thanks for stopping by!
Would love to hear from you!
